Students for A Nonreligious Ethos is the only specifically nonreligious student organization at the University of California at Berkeley

Primarily, SANE offers a forum for open-minded individuals to freely discuss philosophical, scientific, religious, political, and historical topics free from intolerance.   Willingness to doubt and desire to hear perspectives define SANE.  Though the forum upholds a nonreligious ethos, religious insight often provides unique understanding. 

SANE subscribes to strict separation between religion and government; all too often religious dogma becomes the tool of bigotry, the desecration of human dignity, and the violation of human liberty.

SANE does not hold any political affiliation or viewpoint except inasmuch that belief in reason, science, and tolerance constitute one.
